Filippo Massimiliani received the B.Sc. degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering curriculum, from the University of Pavia, Italy, in 2022, with a thesis on the use of augmented reality in industrial applications through smart glasses. In 2024, he received the M.Sc. degree in Industrial Automation Engineering, Robotics and Mechatronics curriculum, from the same university, with a thesis focused on the development of a human-in-the-loop ski simulator and a motion tracking system for real-time ski pose estimation.
He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Industrial and Information Engineering at the University of Pavia. His research activity focuses on the development of human-in-the-loop simulators for training and coaching in sports applications, with particular attention to winter sports. His research interests include dynamic modelling of human motion, athlete–environment interaction, motion cueing, computer vision, and the real-time integration of measurement systems within 3-DOF robotic platforms.
During his academic and research activities, he has developed marker-based systems for tracking physical objects in virtual environments, real-time communication algorithms, and multibody models implemented in Python, C++, and C#. He has also designed and developed a balance board based on a 6-axis load cell for the characterization of athlete motion and constraint reactions during sports activities.
